Shockwave and Soundwave Movie Style Mock-Ups

TFormers.com has posted two images for the heads of Soundwave and Shockwave, supposedly for Transformers 2. The site and I thinks its more likely a fan mock up since there isn't even a script for the film but darned if they don't look good. Its a fantastic mix of the movie style with the G1 look many know and love.

Jazz Robot Designs

The news drought, for now, has ended. TFW2005.com has posted a pic of a potential design for the robot mode of Jazz. White is apparently his favorite color. Actually I am liking the design, its not bad at all. Now if only tfw2005 would stop with the enormous watermarks that mess up the actual picture visuals. The images are not theirs anyway (technically they are Dreamworks) so to mark them up to ruin is overkill. Use a watermark, just stick it somewhere it doesn't cover a chunk of the pic visuals.

Bumbleebee on Cover of Hot Rod

The Camaro that is the vehicle mode for Bumbleebee is the cover car for the November 2006 issue of Hot Rod Magazine. Almost no spoiler movie wise, but decent info about the car itself as provided from "rtype" on the Shoot for the Edit site and provided by tformers.com.

It's not really a camaro but a pontiac gto with fiberglass molds from the concept. Built by Saleen, it has faux wheel covers/rotors and anything else that is "billet aluminum" is also made of fiberglass. pretty cool stuff. they have pics of the chassis, camaro - fresh out of the paintbooth masking paper still on it, and prelim test fits of the white fiberglass molds.

The dash, and outer body panels are from the concept. the chassis, LS-2 V-8 engine, and suspension are GTO.

- Barricade (still referred to as Brawl in this article) is considered a Saleen, not Mustang, Ford not wanting the Pony touted as a villain. They alluded that this will make it easier for Hasbro to license it as a toy.

- Bumblebee's side windows are plexiglass and won't roll down.

-Even though Saleen modifies Mustangs, it was tapped due to it's expertise in building show vehicles.

- GM, not Saleen applied the final racing stripes, to closely resemble the '69 camaro stripes.

- "Old" Bumblebee was originally gonna be a '69, but ended up being 3 1976 camaros. the team was going for believability in terms of spike finding a crappier camaro as opposed to the more sought after '69.

- new movie camaro is automatic (Heard this is quite common for stunt driving purposes. -bwbm)

- the new camaro trunk fills up with smoke when doing burn outs, it's bare bones hollow and houses the fuel filler cap.

Tranformers Battle Scene Mock-Up Pics

Seibertron.com has posted two pics that appear to be mock-up of a battle scene between the Decepticons and Aubobots in downtown Los Angeles. The images show a possible cut-out robot views of Megatron, Frenzy, Starscream, Ratchet, Bumblebee, and Jazz to scale with the surrounding cars and building. Useful in determine what the scale of the Transformers will be to the average car and skyscraper (basically about 2-3 stories tall).

Even More Optimus Prime Pics

TFormers.com has posted two additional boards of the plans for the movie version of Optimus Prime. The pics are both a repeat of those released yesterday and additional images of Optimus with his gun. The status is listed as "work in progress" so possible that his final design could be different then what currently see. Also congrats to them for doing the watermark in a more logical manner.

More Pics of Movie Optimus Prime

AICN.com has posted a front, back and face pics of Optimus Prime. These images are much clearer then the previously released pics. At first glance, I can't say I liked the design, but the more I look at them, the more I am digging them.

Optimus Prime's Big Gun

TF2005.com forums have posted a pic grabbed during the Magic Clothing Trade Show in Las Vegas. I guess its part of a plan for Tranformers movie related clothesline. Optimus was one huge gun.

Megatron Design Revealed

AICN posted, then pulled photos of the robot form of Megatron, the leader of the Decepticons and main villain (sorta, as only in film for about 20 minutes). Thankfully a site reader, Donald C., sent me the pics.

I do believe that if the producers et al got a ton of crap for Starscream and other leaked designs, the sh-- is about to truly hit the fan. You saw a hint of him form being built here, but now you get to see it in all its colored glory.

Now, having read the script, the idea is Megatron retained his alien Cybertron form in part because of his contempt for earthlings and all things Earth related. If you hate them, why trans-scan into a earth form. So the idea is to scream "look!, evil alien robot." On that beat, they absolutely nailed it. Sadly though if you are looking for your childhood Megatron, there is nada (but maybe get that in the voice perhaps?).

Leaked Toy Images, Movie Robot Mode?

In this weekend of Transformers news comes leaked images of the potential plans for Optimus Prime, Starscream, Blackout and Scorponok. Since toys nowadays can do a remarkable job of recreating the characters and moments from the movies, its safe to say these images give a strong hint at to what the Transformers modes will look like in the movie. If they can pull of this detail for the toys, I can't wait to unleash my inner 10 year old with them.

As an aside, TFW2005.com, I understand why people use watermarks(referring those HUGE yellow words on the above images), but when the watermarks interferes with the image being displayed, you are taking the protecting of intellectual data (that usually isn't even your data to begin with) a little to far. Drop the watermark in the corner like everyone else. Or fade it, but do something so that it doesn't interfere with what you are presenting. When you have professional photographers that don't even do that, you should know you are taking the watermark a little to far.

Optimus Prime 3D Pictures Confirmed

TheMovieBlog.com has reported that representatives from Paramount Pictures have confirmed that the 3-D images of Optimus Prime's arms and head are from real designs for the Aubotot leader. I assumed they where fan-made mainly but clearly wrong on that front. Not sure what that means but I do hope more information gets leaked. The Brawn segment has not been confirmed and out there somewhere is apparently a pic of Bumblebee's foot. Now I want to see the full body shot. No more appetizer (yep I am greedy).

Optimus Prime Body Part Mock-Ups

AICN.com post the above pics, which they got from the tfw2005.com forums, who in turn apparently got them from a Don Murphy message thread. The idea is they might be actual mockups of Optimus Prime's face and arm. The below pic is a fan's mockup of what he total picture possibly might look like. I doubt any of it is real. More then likely its all fan made designs using existing leaked information (the colors and fire streaks) but I noticed doesn't really add anything new. Any case they are fun pics and help give an idea of what might be coming. Below is also something that may (but probably not) from an aspect of Brawn.

Another CG Optimus Prime Demo

YouTube.com has another demo of Optimus Prime's upper body transforming from the Peterbilt truck that may be used for the movie. As the picture show, its not very detailed and pretty basic. Its also clearly fan made, but still these are fun to see.

The demo is here.
The OP/Ultra Magnus Fan made clip that is really sweet is here.

Optimus Prime Vehicle Mode - Revealed!

Above, at least until the boomstick comes down, is the pic of Optimus Prime in vehicle mode. At least that is what was reported by AICN. According to tformers.com this type vehicle is a "regular long nosed black Peterbilt truck." Whether this is the final design or not has not been officially confirmed.

Also, most of the stuff with the TFs will be heavy on the CGI so even if this is the filmed version of the truck, there is nothing stopping them from changing its look later digitially (expensive solution, but throwing it out there).

Thanks B. Pretzel for sending me the pic.

Optimus Prime Vehicle Mode Revealed - sorta

Update: Two readers where kind enough to send a pic to me. You can see it here.

AICN.com got a scoop late last night of a pic of the vehicle mode of Autobot leader Optimus Prime. Sadly that pic was then more or less immediately yanked as the studio is apparently more on their game with the pic leaks then it has been in the past. Sadness for us.

The description of note is "It is of the vehicle form of Optimus Prime. Yes, he's a truck. Yes, he's red. Yes, he's totally Michael Bay-ized. The picture will relieve some fans and probably infuriate some other fans. But I guarantee this... if that truck transforms into a badass giant robot and we hear Peter Cullen's voice coming from the big bastard, you'll see some orgasmically happy fanboys and girls. Hopefully Bay made the right decision with the voice casting."

Hey its red. Uh beyond that who knows. Pretty sure its going to be some honking monster of a red truck that probably doesn't exist in the real world. If it looks cool, I will not mind. I am not yet entirely convinced that Peter Cullen is a must have voice, have to find out who the other candidates are for comparison to really know for sure.

Anycase, if someone was able to get that pic, forward it to me. I will post it for as long as I am able. Email it to canowupass at yahoo.com.

AICN article is here.
