If you have way to much money burning a hole in your pocket then you might be interested in the Barrett-Jackson auction of an Optimus Prime and Bumblebee vehicles. The Optimus Prime vehicle is the 1992 Peterbilt stunt truck that was used in the first three films while Bumblebee is the 1967 Chevy Camaro from Age of Extinction. No estimated of what prices the two vehicles are expected to get but you can read the full details here. Info on the Prime auction is here and Bumblebee here.

Linkfest - Dinobots and Combiners Oh My
It has been a months since did my last linkfest and its shows with an epic ton of video reviews for upcoming figures from Hasbro's Combiner Wars line and all the third party figures. Below are a bunch of reviews for the first wave for the Combiner Wars with an occasional look at an incomplete combiner as Hasbro chose to swap a Stunticon with an Arialbot for each wave to emphasize their ability to swap to create "new" combined robots. Also a look at the first wave of Robots in Disguise toys along with Masterpiece Ultra Magnus and Bumblebee.
For third party reviews the theme is the Dinobots with four lines coming this year. Two of them are Masterpiece scaled figures from Fanstoys while Planet X's are based on War for Cyberton, and one is regular scaled release (from Fansproject) while last is a combiner (from Toyworld). Hopefully the reviews below will help in deciding which of the four to commit to. The 3rd party pattern remains combiners. Other than the Dinobots there are currently takes on the Terrorcons, Combaticons, Technobots and Protectobots. Before the reviews here are links to some upcoming releases, two 80s Transformers videos, and an update on Transformers: Robots in Disguise cartoon series.
Update: Added this reveal of Combiner Wars Devastator. No real deal details except that he may follow the G1 version with six characters merging and come complete as a collection rather than sold individually. Hopefully more will be revealed at the New York Toy Fair that starts Feb 2.

Linkfest - Combiner Wars
The news on the Transformers 5 front remains dead and probably will for a while but that doesn't mean the toys stop coming. In a few cons Hasbro and 3rd party vendors teased about the next six months or so of releases. For Hasbro that means Angry Birds, Combiner Wars and Robots in Disguise toys.
For third party companies, the theme remains combiners with upcoming releases of combiners but it seems the theme for 2015 is Dinbots with at least three separate sets coming one of which will be an actual combiner. Other galleries include a look at Optimus Prime turning into a Playstation 1 console, a look at Ultimetel Prime, and more. On the video review front we have looks at the next wave of Generations Deluxe and Voyager toys, look at two versions of Swoop, reviews of the not Technobots, more Masterpiece figures including Wheeljack, and bunch more.

Pics, Videos from Elgin, Texas Filming (Updated)
Below are more images and video from the TaylorElgin, Texas set of Transformers 4 that was taken by JasonBo who also took many pictures last week that showed off the cast for the first time. Below are few new one that include the first real look at Nicola Peltz on the set, Mark Wahlberg in mechanic makeup, and a close look at the rusted Prime cab that really shows off the faded flame decals that indicate this is Prime's alt mode for a portion of the movie. In addition below are two videos that show a little bit of the filming. One involves the Rusted Prime, the other shows I guess government vehicles heading somewhere. Update: JasonBo has added dozens more pictures from the Elgin, Texas base camp of Transformers 4 that includes pics of most of the cast, few soldier characters, and what lighting prep for a scene. You can find them here.

First Look at Bumblebee's New Alt Mode? (Updated)

Update: Added to more images from mar10stm and killersquirrell that showcase the potential Bumblebee vehicle. With all the black and what appears to be a much older design, starting to think this is Jack Reynor character's race car and not a TF alt mode.

New Vehicle Mode of Optimus Prime Revealed (Updated)

Update: Below is the same image but modified by Jeffrey Marshall of Pixel Rally so that it is less "sepia-toned." The result is the colors of Prime really pops out. While still not a big fan of the flames, I do like his Transformers Prime-like shape.

Peter Cullen On Doing Dark of the Moon and Optimus
I know how the process of voicing an animated character works, but how does it work on a live-action movie like this? How early in the process are you coming in to do the voice? Can you talk about how that process works?Read More »
Peter Cullen: Well, the difference between the animated version, going back to Generation One, and the action version, the human involvement is highlighted and Optimus finds himself communicating on a human level more than ever before. Not that he didn't before, but it's much more obvious now. Certainly in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, he begins to show more human emotions than he ever did before, including anger. These are all factors that create new challenges.

More Images, Video from TF3 in DC

The set of images below come thanks to Shane W. who took them while visiting the city on Tuesday. The pics where taken at the 9th Street base camp. Also below are links to additional galleries with the 1st gallery from Bryan showing the fans ringing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool while filming occurred with a break taken as Shia and Josh met fans including one fan that was able to get his

The fifth video is a nearly eleven minute look at some of the filming that occurred near the reflecting pool. At about that time, Bryan recorded 15 short videos from around that time that seems to include scenes with Shia, Josh and NEST. I chose a sample one, be sure to hit link below for the rest. The 7th video is from Sunday as at Constitution Hall. Not entirely sure but think Kevin Dunn (blue shirt) and Julie White (pink dress) were there. To finish things up, the last video returns us to explosion. This time from Constitution Avenue as it goes off and two cars smash into each other. Thanks to Shane, Bryan, Sideswipe, digifruitella, Katie, and Mauricio for the links, vides and images.Read More »
TF3 DC: Bayhem Arrives in the Capitol, Autobots Exiled

A thread from Revenge of the Fallen, carried over with set images of an "Autobots Go Home" graphitti has hit a new level with a reveal from The Washington Post that indicates things are going very badly for the Autobots in this movie. Thanks to Richard P. for the link. Update: Politico provides a little more information including the name of the character as Dana Bash.
"While filming "[Transformers] 3" in front of the Capitol in D.C., director Michael Bay shoots a scene in which a "CNN reporter" broadcasts news that Congress has acted quickly to pass legislation that exile Autobots from American soil."

Transformers 3 DC Parking Lot Gallery
Thanks to Allison, here are images of the Washington, DC parking lot that is essentially base camp for Transformers 3 production complete with make-up, costume trailers and so forth. It is located near the Old Convention Center Parking Lot on 9th Street, between New York Street and H Street. The crew, once again showing their friendliness to fans, allowed picture to be taken as long as didn't touch anything and treated the property with respect. Sadly the Wreckers remained in their trailers so no pics of them. I believe the pictures were taken before the Bumblebee car accident which is why get a look at all of them including a peak of 'Bee next to the Ferrari. Still Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Ironhide, the Decepticon Suburbans and more are on site.

Dark of the Moon Trademark Filed, Florida Info
A few new pieces that follow-up on previous posts. The first is yet more proof that Transformers: The Dark of the Moon is the official title for the new movie. TFW2005 found the US federal trademark filing from Hasbro for the name, "Wednesday, September 29, 2010, a U.S. federal trademark registration number 85140636 was filed for DARK OF THE MOON by Hasbro, Inc. with the description Toys, Games and Playthings; gymnastic and sporting articles not included in other classes; decorations for Christmas trees." Thanks to Udana and Katie for the info.
Also a site reader commented a little bit about the filming at Kennedy Space Center, specifically about some of the stars seen on set.

Worked as an escort on T3 filming - Shia Lebeouf, John Turturro and Josh Duhamel were all on the sets I covered. They shot scenes at the Pad, OPF, VAB, SLF and SSPF. We had LOTS of KSC extras that are actual engineers and lots of fun (long, LONG days). Lots of juicy stuff, but cannot disclose it per the movie folks request. It was supposed to be a closed set, but that’s pretty hard to accomplish. We got to see all of their vehicles, and they got to see Discovery in all her glory with the RSS off the vehicle. Amazing sight!! The cast and crew were respectful and courteous, and in awe of the hardware (the payload AMS was a fav), the buildings, and the wonderful people at KSC. They were most appreciative of the exceptional logistics that we needed to coordinate in order to accommodate the entire cast and crew. We loved having them and look forward to the movie!!Last, below is a video from NASA that shows more of the photo op that NASA employees and their family had with Bumblebee and Optimus Prime once filming had wrapped at Kennedy. Thanks to Sabastian for the link.

TF3 Florida: Autobots at the VAB (Updated)

I was pretty close to the filming in the VAB yesterday as were about 150 extras. The guy in the wheelchair was John Turturro. I didn't snap any photos while they were filming because they are pretty strict about photos and I didn't want to get in trouble. As for images, Florida Today reported about yesterday's filming along with a gallery of images here of the Wreckers. The article describes a little bit of the casting and costume process for extras cast for the shoot. It was noted that filming at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, "where the Atlas and Delta unmanned rocket programs are housed -- to the filming schedule apparently was a last-minute decision by Bay." Thanks to Sideswipe, Ray, and Richard for the links.
Many KSC employees and all the extras were able to witness some street filming last evening at KSC about an hour before sunset. A long convoy that included OP, bumblebee, a silver topless stingray (sideswipe), a red Ferrari, and three or four NASCAR based autobots, and I think Ratchet all sped down the street in front of the VAB and into the front gate of the VAB for numerous shots that were shot from different directions using the Camera chase car.
Update: Thanks again to Sideswipe, below are three additional videos that show off the Autobots as they drive in front of the VAB.Read More »

TF3 Detroit: Downtown with the Big Gun and Bayhem

Lots of great stuff going on today; Shia and Rosie were filming on the TF Jet prop (which now appears to definitely not be an "arm" or anything like that, as it was sitting street-level as they climbed on and off of it in front of the deli/liquor store set on Clifford. They were also shooting at the Farwell building with probably close to 100 (maybe more) extras running to the center of the intersection, as they were preparing to blow out a store front there. Towards the end of the evening, as the guys that haul the Autobots around were packing them up for the night, they were very cool and gave me a chance to get some pics of my son with Bumblebee and Sideswipe; then, one of the guys gave my son a NEST logo sticker that they actually us on the vehicles! What a cool souvenir! As you can see in the pic, he's super excited about that! I also noticed the classic silver Mercedes in the hauler that has been seen on other sets. I had my wife and kids with me, and we even got a mention in the local paper (Detroit Free Press), who was there covering some of the goings-on.

TF3 Detroit: Transformers at Central Station

Things are full speed ahead in Detroit now! They were filming at Michigan Central Station most of the day, followed by a quick trip over to the Packard Plant in the late evening for some other shots. The downtown sets should be shooting tomorrow; the Deli/Liquor store they've been setting up at Clifford and Woodward now has the Transformer Jet prop assembled in front of it; they were putting it together around lunch time (the engines were still at Packard at that point), and had it assembled when I came back by around 5PM. At Central Station, they were filming Shia, and I think Duhamel and Tyrese and possibly Hardcore Eddie, as well.Read More »
The Wreckers were being filmed racing across the front of the Station, while Ratchet was positioned at the left side door, and tires could be heard squealing inside the station. They were shooting closeups of the NEST squad and Shia on the right side of the station. After they wrapped at Central for the day, I heard a crew member's radio say they had to rush over to Packard; I got some great HD video shots of them leaving, and then arriving at Packard. I caught a glimpse (and pic) of a second Optimus cab inside the gates (I've seen doubles of the other cars, but not Optimus yet). As they were filming at Packard, there were a few small explosions. Tyrese's Chevelle drove by, and a bit later, Ironhide and the Twins finally arrived on a car hauler! Exciting day here in Detroit! Stay Tuned!

TF3 Detroit: Set Prep and Transformers

Today, I got to "Roll out" with Optimus and Ratchet, as I followed them from the Packard Plant to a new location [video below] (The Connor Creek Detroit Edison Plant; nothing really to be seen here, as it's fairly well isolated from the surrounding area. It's the large plant with two smoke stacks in the pics). I got a chance to get some great pics of all the Autobots that were present as well. There were two Bumblebees, two Sideswipes, two Ferraris, and two of the Benzs. They were being washed and prepped for shooting. They were also filming at the Fisher Building downtown today.

There's a set being finished up at Clifford and Woodward, where they've built what looks like a fake subway entrance/stairwell type thing in the street, and have been decorating a building for a few days. Today they painted "Park in Rear" and some arrows on it. Right next door to it, they have decorated the vacant former Michigan National Bank building to look like a lingerie store window front (presumably something that matches Chicago). The building is vacant/empty if you look in through the front doors. I'm not sure if the "Cobras Club - Gentleman's club" is part of the set or not, though it may be, as the name is spelled wrong on one side of the sign). Also, Central Station was getting A/V/Power cable wrapped all around it as they prepped it for shooting on the outside (they've been doing interior work for at least a week now). Filming will be taking place in several areas over the rest of the week.
