Dreamworks Released By Paramount

Paramount Studios has released Steven Spielberg and his team from their contracts paving the way for Dreamworks to jump ship and form a new studio in a partnership with Reliance ADA Group. From LA Times:
Reliance will invest $550 million in equity for a 50% stake in DreamWorks and has been working with JPMorgan Chase & Co. to borrow an additional $700 million. The new studio is seeking total capitalization of $1.25 billion to satisfy a business plan to make as many as six pictures a year.

However, on Friday, after a DreamWorks lawyer told Paramount that DreamWorks had signed its equity partnership agreement with Reliance, the studio immediately released the DreamWorks principals from their contracts.

Paramount also gave permission to Spielberg to take "without delay" all of DreamWorks' approximately 150 employees. But it is not clear how many of them Spielberg and Snider actually want, nor is it clear whether Paramount intends to keep any of the DreamWorks staff.

Spielberg and Snider also have Paramount's blessing to bring along any of the production deals that they currently have at DreamWorks, which include arrangements with actor-director Ben Stiller; director Sam Mendes; husband-and-wife filmmakers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald; writer-producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman; partners Tom Pollock and director Ivan Reitman; and former Disney Studios executive Nina Jacobson.

Hanging in the balance are hundreds of DreamWorks movie projects that are owned by Paramount. Spielberg has earmarked about 40 projects in which he wants to stay involved as director and/or a producer.
Spielberg probably will continue to produce some movies for Paramount, including additional sequels to last year's hit "Transformers." The second film, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," is currently in production and due out next summer.

DreamWorks' split from Paramount means that Spielberg essentially has to start a company from scratch the way that he, Geffen and Jeffrey Katzenberg did 14 years ago when they set out to create a media giant involved in movies, television, music and interactive games.
So there you go Steven Spielberg will remain executive producer of the Transformers franchise for the foreseeable future.

Accident on Transformers 2 Set

TMZ is reporting that Transformers 2 set experienced an accident when a tech receieved second and third degree burns during special effect.
A special effects technician received second and third degree burns on his right hand and upper right thigh, while attempting to add fuel to a special effect fire.

We're told the tech grabbed the wrong container -- one containing gasoline instead of the diesel fuel -- and the on-set medics and ambulance responded, taking him to the hospital for treatment.

Sources tell us all stars from the movie were on set at the time of the accident.
Best wishes to the technician who is hopefully healing well. Thanks to Katie for the info.

Megatron's Alt Mode

Latino Review has found four images of Megatron's potential new alt mode. As the robot pic suggested, it appears to be a rather strange looking tank. Not bad looking but I do find the head peaking out between the treads a bit strange looking. Thanks to Eyehut and Katie for the link.

Edit: Updated post to reflect correct source of the images.

Josh Duhamel On Set Pics

SpoilerTV has posted a few pictures of Josh Duhamel on a Transformers set. The what, when, where, etc are not specified but if I had to hazard a guess I would think the pictures are from June when he was shooting at Bethlehem Steel. Below are a few pictures and the full gallery is here. Thanks to Michael for the link.

Grimlock Fan Art

From Romain Revert is the below fan made design he created for Grimlock. The first image is Grimlock in normal robot mode, the second is battle mode with mast and chest protector (for his spark). The vehicle mode is a GMC Denali XT Concept car.

Transformers 2 At White Sands Pictures

Thanks to an anonymous source, below are some images from Holloman Air Force Base, specifically White Sands, NM. The images show a bit of the Transformers 2 set at the site along with Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox in their character costumes. The exact nature of what was being shot is unknown. The pictures are smaller then normal due the the cell phone used to take them.

Hand Update and "No, No, No"

People magazine provides a brief update on the Shia Labouf's hand which sound to me is still giving him problems. Thanks to Chilly for the link.
"I'm just propped up right now to do Transformers 2," LaBeouf told PEOPLE of his left hand at Tuesday's Eagle Eye premiere in Hollywood. "Then, when I get another surgery, I'll start recovering. Right now, I'm getting through."

It was his first red carpet appearance since the July 27 DUI citation and accident that crushed his hand. The 22-year-old kept the healing appendage, which was in a white protective guard, in his pocket for most of the night. And when asked if he was "70- to 80-percent back to normal," LaBeouf joked, "I haven't percentaged it out."

LaBeouf's hand injury, which left two of his fingers broken, forced a script rewrite of Transformers 2, which is currently in production. The changes are minor, according to one of the movie's writers.

"It will be a part of it," Alex Kurtzman, Transformers 2 co-writer and Eagle Eye producer, said. "Very little, actually, very little. Without giving too much away, it actually fit very organically into what we were already doing."
Not particarily related but one I found amusing is this video collage of Shia's many "No, no, no!" moments in his movies.

Bonaventura Talks More Transformers

IESB spoke with Transformers 2 producer at the Eagle Eye premiere about The video of the interview is here. Thanks to Robert for the link.

Highlights:
- "... probably three times as many Transformers in this. Both more Decepticons, more Autobots."
- "No, I wouldn't promise that [in regards to "more Cybertron"]. But I will promise that you are going to see a lot of things the fans wanted to see in the first movie we couldn't do. We are able to do now. You are going to see those fans favorites. We all try to hide what it is, you guys found out. Don't ask me who they are. It is you pick three or four characters you wanted to see...you really like...they are in this. ...Bunch of great ones."
- "We are taking [this movie] international. Bigger movie. Bigger arena."
- About trailer: "I hope this holiday season. ...the problem is always the same problem the visual effects are never quite ready in time. I know Paramount and Dreamworks wants to put em out for the holidays, its just whether we can get the visual effects done on time."

Orci: "Lot about the mythology"

IESB.net interviewed Transformers' writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman as the promoted Eagle Eye that is coming out September 26th. They briefly discuss writing Transformers and plans for the story (but no details of course).
IESB: On Transformers it's a bit different on the writing process because you've got Ehren [Kruger] working as well. How did that work out for you guys?
Bob: We couldn't have done it without Ehren. It would have literally been impossible because we were producing Eagle Eye...
Alex: And with the strike, it really ran out the clock so when the strike ended, we had four months to get a shooting draft together. And so the three of us locked ourselves into a hotel, or I should say, Michael Bay locked us in a hotel... We would work in one room, Ehren in another room and then we'd get together twice a day and trade pages and go over each other's stuff. It was actually great, it was a lot of fun and having him come in with a fresh perspective and not having had any of the baggage we had from the first movie was key to making the second one it's own movie, distinct from the first one.
Bob: And Ehren's the greatest too because he's equal parts fan boy and grown-up and I think he is able to get the best of both perspectives and so it was just a very fun team and it felt, we worked together on a movie he had written for us as producers, but this was the first time to really sit down and write together and I think it was the easiest transition I can imagine.

IESB: Real quickly on Transformers, it looks like it's definite that the Constructicons and Devastator are in, Soundwave is in, can you give us any hints, any clues of what else we are going to see?
Bob: You are going to find out a lot about the mythology. It's officially going to tell you what the Transformers history is and I think a lot of it is going to be taken, somewhat, from gospel. I think we all settled on the fact that the source material and the myth that established in much of the Transformers back story was perfect for this movie. And that should be satisfying to genuine fans.

IESB: One of the things that we got teased about, and that I loved, was looking at Cybertron. Are we going to actually see it this time? Are we getting the same - explain it in the beginning of the movie and then back to Earth?
Alex: I think in the spirit of what we gave you in the first movie, there will be similar things in this movie.
Bob: Meaning, "no comment." (laughter)
Note that while the interviewer mentioned specific TF characters that are unconfirmed to be in the movie, the writers skipped right past it without confirming or denying them.

Two New Walmart TF Videos

Wal-Mart's Transformers site (code: AllSpark62609) has updated with two new videos.

The first video shows Megan and Shia on a Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen set that might be Sam's parents’ backyard. In a scene he briefly mentions the "fragment" that I am guessing is the remaining piece of the All Spark. For amusement there is Megan Fox being followed by someone doing the thankless job of holding an umbrella over her head between takes. It seems like primadonna behavior but Bay has a reputation of valuing speed and efficiency. From a production standpoint it actually makes sense. If she sweats, makeup and hair has to be retouched. Retouching means delay between takes. Longer the delay between takes the more money being spent. Shia's response to the treatment is hilarious.

The second video is Megan Fox's audition tape. She looks different. I want to say younger but that's not it. There is some subtle difference between the Megan of then and the Megan of today. Whatever the difference is, the Megan Fox of several years ago is seems more attractive to me then the Megan Fox of today.

Thanks to Michael for the heads-up. If someone finds a site that did an embed version of the two new videos, be sure to post em the comments.

Update: Another thanks to Michael for finding the videos on YouTube so I could embed them into the post.

TF2 Megatron Image?

TFW2005's S250 has struck again. Previously he had posted pictures of concept images of the Corvette Centennial, Audi R8, and Chevy Trax (since pulled per Paramount). Now he has posted the image to the right that looks like a modified Megatron robot design complete with tank tread like feet. Proof that Megatron not only returns but gets an earth mode? Thanks to Thomas for the heads-up.

Update: More I see this car, more I like it. Too bad its price is probably outside my scope (I am betting around $30-$35k). Anyway more images are here, video of interior here.

More Chevy Volt Pics

DVice.com has posted the best pictures yet of the new Chevy Volt just to give you an idea of what the car model will look like in the movie. It is not colored in that nice blue/purple paint that is being used for Transformers 2 but overall not a half bad looking vehicle. I still find it hard to believe this may not be a Transformer alt mode. The full gallery, including interior shots, is here. Thanks to anonymous source for the link.

Sci-Fi Wire Writer's Blurb

Sci-Fi Wire briefly spoke with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman about their goals when they wrote Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The full article is here.

"We loved Superman II, we loved Empire, we loved Aliens," Kurtzman said. "And those were all movies that felt like they truly stood apart from what had come before them in great, great ways."

Orci: "And even though they were bigger, per se, it was not just about that. There really was something else going on."

Transformers 2 will bring back many of the first film's characters while introducing some new ones and raising the stakes for all.

"I think the serious answer to your question is, obviously, people will say, 'Look, the explosions are going to be bigger,' but I think Bob and I felt that it was our job--and continues to be our job--to say, 'It's not really about that, because those things, in a way, are a given,'" Kurtzman said.

Orci added: "Yeah, those things are the easy part."

Kurtzman: "What it's about is making sure the emotional stakes feel like they are at a new place and that this movie has a reason to tell itself beyond just 'The studio wants another Transformers movie.' And a lot of that has to do with 'How do you make this movie more emotional? How does this movie stand out from the first one?'"

Orci: "And now that the Transformers are characters, how do you bring them to life some more?"

Transformers 2 is about a month away from the end of principal photography, the writers said.

Possible Movie Hints from Prequel Comic Covers?

IDW has released the solicitations for the comics it plans on released in December. As part of Transformers: The Revenge of the Fallen Movie Prequel: Destiny: Alliance #1 cover images were provided. I don't think the title is long enough.

From the solicitation copy:
Transformers: The Revenge of the Fallen Movie Prequel: Destiny: Alliance #1
Chris Mowry (w) • Alex Milne (a) • Milne, Josh Nizzi (c)

The official prequel to next summer’s “TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN” film kicks off here! “TRANSFORMERS: DESTINY” is comprised of two four-part stories covering events leading up to the film. In the first chapter of the DESTINY story arc, ”ALLIANCE,” readers will learn more about what happened to SECTOR SEVEN, what happened to the AUTOBOTS, and why their war on our planet is far from over.
The comics might give a few hints about the upcoming movie but I am betting it has been designed to remain spoiler free. For example, Sector 7 plays a part in the comic but its always possible that by series end its permanently disbanded resulting in Simmons ending up working at a pizza joint. Arcee is on the cover but in her first movie design that went unused. Chances are in the movie she will re-format to a new look. Of note to me is the gray character that has a very G1 Megatron aesthetic going for it. I wonder who that character is and what part he plays in the story (and maybe the movie).

Other releases for the month include Maximum Dinobots #1, Transformers Animated #5, All Hail Megatron #6, and few others. Thanks to Darian and Tommy for the links.

Jetfire, TF Returns and Other Rumors

Various new rumors have popped up regarding Transformers 2. Most strike me as BS or just re-iterating current theories that are already out there.

The first from TFW2005 says:
TFW2005 has received confirmation from the TFW TF2 Insider that Jetfire will be an Autobot in the upcoming sequel Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen. It could be that the Decepticon symbols previously reported to be on the SR-71 Blackbird were part of Michael Bay's misinformation campaign? Or is it a plot twist?
To which I want to say "duh." That Jetfire will be an Autobot is nearly a foregone conclusion if you look at the character's G1 history. Regardless of incarnation in comics or animation, Jetfire started as a Decepticon but became an Autobot when he realized their goal was not to improve Cybertron but subjugate it. In some versions, he was once Starscream's best friend. Jetfire's character arc is nearly perfect for a 2 hour movie. So yeah, Jetfire probably is introduced as a Decepticon but by movie's end will be an Autobot.

I still maintain that no misinformation campaign exists. At most the campaign is to let us think what we want and confirm or deny nothing. Our imagination is all the campaigning they need.

From Unicron.com (which they pulled until find independent sources to confirm):
1. How do I know if there making 5 movies? The whole crew signed a contract saying they will make 3 installments. Shia also said he will make 2 more after 3 because he liked Transformers when he was young.
2. What’s up with the Scorponok (image)? He will get upgrades. You will see his robot mode. His robot mode is the same as the toy line.
3. The 7 Constructicons will make "Devastator"
4. What will be the replacement name for Bonecrusher of the Constructicons? (Since he died) Starscream has special plans for that dead body. (Notice in the movie, his body wasn't on the cargo carrier.
5. What’s up with the Arcee bikes? I’ll give you a hint. The special people in Transformers "Armada"
6. How the heck will they explain a female Transformer? Simple. A malfunction.
7. I wonder who the Corvette is? Another hint. G1 color: Blue
8. Jazz's return? You'll never see it coming.
9. If they could afford money to get the world’s largest dump truck that's 2 stories high as "Long Haul", then how come they couldn't afford an Aircraft Carrier? We are saving the best for last.
10. When we first thought of Soundwave being in the second movie, we designed him to be the comedian of the group. He would play music and his big HD speakers would come out of his shoulder to annoy Starscream. The songs we thought of were Caramelldansen. Also some Rock songs from AC/DC and Kiss. Then Starscream would tell him to shut up. To bad they cancelled the idea. If you asked me, I think they should have kept it.
To take them in order:
1. Probably true in the sense of "we will keep making them as long as they make money" as is the case with all franchises. It is common practice to sign up actors for three movies and then renegotiate after that. See Spider-Man for examples. I seriously doubt that plans have gone past the "sure why not" phase.
2. Beats me. Likely Scorponok will be in the sequel. Shooting in Egypt and Holloman confirm at least some desert sequences. Introducing his robot mode makes sense.
3. Just repeating the rumor. While I hope true, as explained here, I have serious doubts on it.
4. Could be true, who knows. Much like Jazz though, I just don't see Bay and company wasting screen time treading old territory when they can use that same time to introduce new characters and Transformers mythology.
5. Not a clue what that means.
6. Sure why not. Even easier explanation - don't bother to explain it. People will either accept it or won't. It’s a case where too much information is worse then no information.
7. They are saying that the Corvette is Tracks. Could be true. Could be any number of other Autobots. I get the feeling that "Stinger" is a placeholder name and a final name, voice casting, and personality will be worked out in post production.
8. See 4.
9. Bay said he liked the idea of a Transforming Aircraft Carrier. He probably also realized that having a fight with an aircraft carrier considering most Autobots don't fly (and I assume don't swim) would probably look a bit silly. Not holding my breath on this one.
10. I could see Bay and others pitching this idea (along this hundreds of other ideas like the aircraft carrier). I can also see Orci and Kurtzman laughing at it and then going "no, no, no, bad idea. Nevermind the fans would freak and not in a good way." It more then likely was just an idea tossed out during a planning session and didn't get much further.

There is my take on all this, feel free to add yours (without insults, etc) in the comments.

Teaser Trailer in November

According to a report on AICN from a London press screening of Paramount's 2009 slate of movies, Transformers 2 trailer will premiere in November along with a new trailer for Star Trek. What movie it will be attached to was not mentioned (but I assume Quantum of Solace on November 14th). Thanks to beckwith for the link.

Update: Reading through the comments it seems my choice of phrasing was confusing. The relevant part from AICN is "Seems a lot of major trailers will be coming out in November and star trek will have the Transformers 2 full trailer before it." Now my interpretation of that is a Transformers 2 trailer and a Star Trek trailer will be released in November together.

Another update: It appears that now sites are confirming that the trailer for Transformers will accompany the release of Star Trek on May 9th, 2009. I still like my theory that the Star Trek and Transformers 2 trailers are coming in November. Guess will find out in a few months.

Bay Burglarized

TMZ is reporting that Michael Bay's apartment was robbed in New Mexico.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ director Michael Bay was the victim of a home break-in at his apartment in New Mexico last night. He's staying down there while filming "Transformers 2." If surveillance video of the crime exists, it's probably grossly over-directed, but will take in $100 mil at the box office anyway.

Authorities wouldn't confirm what was taken, but we can only hope it was every copy of the movie "Pearl Harbor."

No one has been arrested yet, but authorities are looking for "persons of interest."
Not cool. Hopefully they will catch whoever did it.

Update from Nelson, Bay's site admin:
He's alright. I spoke to him earlier this morning. There were just some personal items stolen. No stolen script this time.
Thanks to Michael for the heads-up.

Orci: Possible Cullen Cameo in TF2

Transformers 2 writer Roberto Orci occasionally pops in on TWW2005's Ask Roberto Orci thread and answers fan questions. As a result, sometimes info of interest comes out including a comment about Peter Cullen possibly performing a cameo in the movie. Here are some recent highlights

- On Peter Cullen's cameo: "Its in the script... let's see if Bay shoots it..."
- On introducing new concepts versus expanding TF1 concepts in sequel: "50/50"
- Writer commentary for movie: "If Bay lets us. He's an attention hog. If not, Alex and I are going to do one for itunes for both movies." (cool idea).
- Orci: "This movie will deal much more with the specific mythology of the Transformers."
- Return of Jazz: "No" (this idea needs to die, why waste story time bringing back Jazz when can use it to introduce new Autobots - TFLive).
- Soundwave's (not) alt-mode: "Without confirming an ice cream truck -- NO." and "No ipod Soundwave."
- Time left in TF2 shoot: "another 5 weeks or so..."
- Update: Orci also says "no" to the Chevy Volt being Soundwave.

A Peter Cullen cameo would be very cool. Hopefully Bay wil film it. As far as Soundwave's alt mode, nice to know what he isn't, be glad to find out what it is. Currently TF2 production is at Holloman Air Force Base for the next week or so, then Egypt. After that is a question mark.

Split Ice Cream Truck Videos

RodrigoNJ has posted 11 videos (found by oddsey) from the Bethlehem Steel shoot that occurred in June. The videos are short, but some do show interesting information. Specifically video proof as to why the Ice Cream Truck is speculated to be the mysterious Twins from the call sheets.

In those sheets a scene is described as "Two halves of Ice Cream Truck. One spins. Join together. Ice Cream Truck splits around Chinese kids. Leaves treat." This description is why the truck is considered an Autobot since avoiding killing kids and leaving treats is very un-Decepticon behavior. The splitting in two, demonstrating a slight difference in behavior before merging also supports the notion of two separate robots. As the videos below show, you can see two halves of the truck beside each other and in the first video you can see the right half do a spin.

Two additional videos of note is the first one that shows a scene being filmed involving pyrotechnics and weapons. Note that the weapons are either firing at something in the air or at something pretty darn tall (the Constructicon Earth Mover perhaps?). The second video shows Tyrese and Michael Bay as they joke and are generally friendly with fans near the trailers.

Another PhillyFilmGirl Joint

In celebration of her 100th youtube.com subscriber (hmm I should look into that), PhillyFilmGirl has posted another video of filming at "Paris, France", i.e. Chancellor Street area in Philadelphia, PA. The film shows preparation with a pole that represents an unknown Transformer as it does whatever it will be doing in the street.

While filming this, Michael Bay saw us and said "Im putting a robot on your house", to which I replied "Uhhh, yea, we kinda figured that out".

Recent Toy, Robot Images Real

I just recieved a polite take down noticed from Paramount Pictures, Dreamworks and Hasbro requesting that I remove the recent pictures of the robot mode for the Audi R8, Chevy Trax and the Corvette Centennial. Per DMCA, I have to comply but its nice to get confirmation that those robot and toy images are 100% legit. Apparently there are watermarks confirming they are from one of the above companies but I can't see them.

Our client has requested the removal of several images that were leaked illegally. The images in question are owned by Hasbro and Dreamworks Animation. They depict Transformers 2 toys from the upcoming film and feature watermarks that are plainly visible in several shots.

The images in question are featured on the main page, and are also found at these specific links:
http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2008/09/audi-r8-robot-revealed.html
http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2008/09/chevy-trax-robot-revealed.html
http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2008/09/first-transformer-2-toy-leaked.html
http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2008/09/transformers-2-head-design.html

I completely understand that posting these images helps create hype and that your site has no intent to violate copyright laws (ed - good to know they realize this). As such I am extending a cordial outreach asking for your assistance in getting this images removed as they are the intellectual property of the aforementioned entities.

If desired, a standard DMCA notice, in compliance with all applicable laws can be provided for you.

Thank you for your help in the matter and feel free to contact me regarding this issue.
So there you go, the first robotic images of Transformers 2 are officially confirmed. Hopefully the toys will be better then matchbox style :P.

Devastator Confirmed for TF2?

TFW2005 is reporting that they have a trusted source that has confirmed that the G1 combiner Devastator will be in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
TFW2005 has received confirmation that the combiner Devastator will appear in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The confirmation includes the following details:

- Seven construction vehicles merge to form Devastator
- Devastator has lots of upper body strength, like a gorilla
- Not just green, some of the vehicles are red and yellow
- The previously Long Haul concept art by Josh Nizzi is legit
The information came from a source whose previous information has been accurate. Possibly from Holloman Air Force Base where Transformers 2 production is right now?

I have my doubts on this story but let us start with why this could be true. Back in April, a character list was leaked that at the same time said Devastator would be in the movie. While the names where changed, the description of several characters remain accurate to known info on casting. Add to that is the call sheet from Bethlehem that describes a Constructicon Earth Mover. In general there has been a combiner like theme in the rumors that have come from the various sets but attached to different characters. Maybe this is what they are all referring to rather then to the "Twins" or Arcee.

Having said that I do have my doubts. The main reason is Hasbro. Their interest in the movie comes down to what toys they can make money from. While Devastator was the first TF combiner of 6 parts, those that have followed over the last 20 years have combines from 2, 3 or 5 parts. The more parts to the combiner, the more difficult the engineering to create the 7 components and do it in a way that children can reproduce for play. Also, the more parts, the more expensive the toy. Usually Hasbro tries to hover in the sweet spot of $20-$25 dollars by either making the combiner either 1 medium and 4 small TFs or 3 medium TFs. In this case, even with 7 small TFs, the results will still shoot past that price point and hover around $40. Of course, toys such as Ultimate Bumblebee have proven that too a certain extent complication and cost isn't as huge a concern for Hasbro as it use to be.

Another reason I have doubts is the lack of visibility of any construction vehicles on any sets so far. Production is more then half way through and yet nada. With leaks of secret concept vehicles and the like, I would think a construction vehicle would have been spotted by now. Of course maybe those moments have simply not yet been filmed. Maybe Bay will go with complete CGI for Devastator (both vehicles and robots).

Last is my own source said the constructicon earth mover was really just a single none gestalt related Transformer that is based on the world's largest earth mover. Of course, that could be wrong. Or, as it just occurred to me, maybe if the Decepticons are getting oversized assistance then the Autobots get their own extra large help.

I hope TFW2005's source nailed it. A Transformer combined from 7 construction vehicles would just be awesome to see on the big screen (and the toy would be fun too). Optimus Prime was around 32 feet tall and nearly the size and mass of an average construction vehicle. It stands to reason then that the average height of the individual components would be around the same height. Based on that, I would guess that the height of a combined Devastator would be around 80 feet tall. Can't really beat that for scale and epic feel to a movie. Just a random thought, if Devastator spoke at that scale, would the volume and power behind his voice shatter the glass of any surrounding buildings due to the power of the sound wave that would unintentionally be generated? As always, its all speculation until the movie comes out.

Thanks to Katie for the link and a site reader for providing the image of CGI rendered Long Haul model.

Audi R8 Robot Revealed?

Another robot design revealed, joining Stinger and the Trax. Same source, same small blurry style images. There is a definite Decepticon aesthetic going on with the robot design. Thanks to Dan and Thomas for the link.

Chevy Trax Robot Revealed?

Via TFW2005 and the same source that leaked possible images of the robot mode of the Corvette Centennial comes the below images of what could be the robot mode for the Chevy Trax. The rather tiny images make it hard to see the details and not sure but I think the fourth one is Bumblebee but hard to tell.

First Transformer 2 Toy Leaked?

New images have appeared on TF08.net and Cybertron.ca that shows a hot wheels like toy that is shaped the same as the Corvette Centennial concept car.

Of note is the robot image on the under side of the vehicle that depict what I assume is the robot mode of the vehicle. Of importance is that the design matches the design that was leaked last week.

Does this toy represent confirmation of robot mode for Stinger? A fairly elaborate hoax? Why a matchbox car rather then a transformer? Even assuming it’s for a promotion like at Burger King or something, usually the toys have a transforming mechanism to them, yet this one doesn't. As usual, only time will tell. And yep the pictures are small cause only size currently available.

Images removed at the request of Paramount Pictures, Dreamworks, and Hasbro

GM Revels Official Production Pics of Volt

In a probably response to the leaked videos (or here) and pictures of the Chevy Volt from the Transformers set, General Motors has released official pictures of the 2011 Chevy Volt. They also noted that the earliest the vehicles will be available to customers is 2010. Below are two pictures and the rest are here. Sadly all of them do have some GM big wig standing in the way. Despite comments from a GM spokesman, I don't see an external different between the production version and the TF version.

More Sam Related Story Points

PhillyFilmGirl, who has provided multiple videos from the Transformers Princeton set, provided more information on the the story points that was being filmed in the Pennsylvania.
heres the whole story of why he read the book so fast IN the video i posted
-he gets some sort of a box, he touches it, it zaps him
-all of a sudden in class (which is a large lecture hall) he goes crazy saying whats wrong in the book and drawing symbols all over his notes and on the board
-i myself have held and seen the astronomy book, its pretty big
-he calls mikaela freaked out, thats where the video comes in
-from there, he tells her on the phone in another location, 'dont touch the box' so i guess thats what did it to him
-then he draws a lot of symbols and i guess it leads him to the final battle and drawing symbols
he also meets another girl, alice who turns out to be evil and is trying to get all up on him at a party, bumblebee crashes the party and here is the conversation sam has with a frat brother
"hey freshmen!" frat bro
"yea?" sam
"is that ur car parked there?"
"what car?"
"the yellow one on the bushes"
"oh my friend just went to get u a tighter shirt"
"there is no tighter shirt i checked and you dont have any friends...say how about if i park my foot up ur ass!"
"what size shoe are you?"
"10"
sam then stumbles on some bushes outside the party, gets in the car with alice (that girl i mentioned)
bumblebee doesnt like her (hence that video with the spinning stop we saw), she gets out with goo on her because of bumblebee
then later alice is seen in a courtyard all meniacle looking after some sort of explosion and the trio are running from her

the parents are in france...something bad happens there they all observe a tv in a open air market and people are crying (an old woman is even wearing a biret), a building collapses, and people are fleeing from it and then we see a transformer in france hunting down the parents or protecting them, i dont know

shia gets strangled by megatron too...we will see megatron's hand strangle him
As the various links I threaded through her story show, there is video corroborating much of what she describes.

Transformers 2 Head Design? Update

TFW2005 found a link on 52Toys.com that suggests that the avatar of a banned user is a head design for a Transformer 2 character.
Actoys.net just banned a user who claimed got some design from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. This guy were looking for business partner at Actoys.net for using these design to produce some unauthorized products before official licensed. But…this user left a mystic avatar.

The last thread this guy left in Actoys.net, is about sell die-cast Chevy Corvette ZR1 model. Looks like this guy is a die-cast car model seller and he claimed this is ZR1’s head.
Until recently the alt mode of "Stinger" was known to be a Corvette, just not sure which one. I and others thought it was the ZR1. It has since been pretty much verified to be a Corvette Centennial. If the person was on the TF2 design team, then they would have known exactly what model car was being. Since clearly they didn't, safe to say this is a fan-made design. Nicely done one though.

S250 on TFW2005 forums has now provided the full body image of the Transformer. Overall a pretty good looking design but I sticking with my fan made theory.

Michael Bay Forums Back

For those that are interested, it appears that after about a month long absence, the Shoot for the Edit forums are back. No indication of what happened but hopefully that means Michael Bay will occasionally start posting again soon. Michael D. for the heads up.

Optimus, Nest Vehicle Spotted

Nathan provided the below pictures, taken with a Blackberry, of Optimus Prime and a Nest vehicle as they sat on a trailer in Arizona. I assume the destination is Holloman Air Force Base and White Sands Missile Range in Alamogordo, NM which is the rumor on where Transformers 2 production is shooting next.

Thanks to Nathan for the pictures.

Update: Thomas A. reports " I did see Optimus Prime and that Hummer this afternoon around 12:15 pm going past White Sands Missile Range, NM heading towards Holloman AFB. I didnt get any pics I was driving in the opposite direction." So there you go, I guess we know where Transformers 2 is probably this weekend or the next.

Transformers 2 Going To Egypt

According to Megan Fox's boyfriend Brian Austin Green, Transformers 2 production is heading to Egypt after finishing filming at Alamogordo, New Mexico (current rumored location).

According to TFormers, the news was shared with Philadelphia's Preston and Steve morning show while he was promoting the second season premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Nelson, who used to admin Bay's forums before it disappeared for unknown reasons, had said back in March that Egypt was potentially on the shooting schedule.

Princeton Video Confirms Plot Point

Spoiler Warning (for those that don't recognize the whole site as a big spoiler).

PhillyFilmGirl has posted another video from when Transformers 2 visited Princeton to film Shia LaBeouf's Sam going to school. The video is a continuation of footage that she had posted back in June. This time the video captures dialogue being filmed for Transformers 2 scene that supports a plot point revealed in June that maybe Sam is losing his mind much like his great great grandfather had after interacting with Megatron.

Thanks to PhillyFilmGirl for the video.

Update: YouTube pulled the video, so PhillyFilmGirl provided the alternative above.

New Shoreline Drive Explosion

A new explosion filmed on Shoreline Drive has been found by Ryan. I am not sure if the explosion is related in anyway to the previous three. The long explosion sounds like a chain of seven explosions occurring across the entire road. I can't really tell exactly what is going on nor if any Transformers are involved but it’s pretty cool looking. Thanks to Ryan for the find.

Wal-Mart: Transformers 2 Day One Video

As part of the promotional push for the new release of Transformers on Blu-ray and DVD, Wal-Mart has a website of exclusive content for Transformers. Currently they have two videos up (both below thanks to MovieWeb). Click here to go to the site, the code is AllSpark62609 (yep All Spark and TF2 release date).

The first video, "On the Set: Day 1" is the first day of shooting at Bethlehem Steel. The video shows some of the set, Michael Bay at work, some prep work, actors and what would be a day of Bay on set without at least one big explosion. Of note is a scene is shown involving the "Arcee biker babes" and also show the Audi R8 that is unconfirmed as a Decepticon. From what I can tell the ladies are on three bikes (not sure if identical models) that are pink/red, purple/white, and blue/black. Now considering that Bethlehem is dressed a Shanghai, China location, you have to wonder what three Caucasian ladies are doing on those bikes. Could the three merge to form Arcee? Are they just riders up to no good? As usual, its all just guesses until showtime.

The second video, "Creating Transformers" is an amusing video with a good beat from ILM that show how some of the CGI work was done for Transformers I. It goes over many of the main scenes from the movie, shows the various stages in the creation of the TFs.

Thanks to Katie, Dave, Jeff, SpoilerTV, and Tahnee for the links.

Chevy Volt Not A TF, GM Comments

It turns out that GM was a bit surprised when video and images of the Chevy Volt on the Transformers set, according to Edmund's Inside Line. The first images that proved the use of the car in Transformers 2 first appeared on this blog last week. This was shortly followed by videos (here and here) that showed the car being prepped and driven, something that General Motors has not even demonstrated for the general public.

The most important part, for Transformers fans at least, is the website reporting that the car is not an alt mode for any Transformer character in the movie.
Inside Line has learned the Volt was only filmed for a day or two, and that it's not going to be a Transformer. With such a short time on the set, the Volt is expected to appear in the movie very briefly, and not as a Decepticon or Autobot, so it will not have a Transformer nickname.
In regards to GM's reaction to the premature release of images regarding the car:
"It's obviously different from the original (2007 Chevrolet Volt concept)," said GM spokesman Rob Peterson in a phone conversation with Inside Line Friday morning. "But this is not the final version at this stage."

He added: "What you know you're not going to get is an Aztek," a reference to the Pontiac that was widely disparaged as one of the ugliest vehicles ever built.

Peterson confirmed that the Volt is "taking part in the Transformers 2 movie." He did not know the Volt's nickname in the movie and admitted that he was "caught off guard" by the video and the ensuing buzz. Peterson said he did not know such details as the name of the color of the car, which appears to be either a deep blue or purple, although he said it may have been "Photoshopped."

"I've never seen that vehicle and I've never seen that color," he said. "You can tell it caught me off guard. I didn't even realize it (the Volt) was out of the state of Michigan."

He did admit that the vehicle in the video was "representative of the production vehicle," which he said would be "revealed fairly soon." But Peterson would not give any more specifics about when and where the Volt would debut.
Edmunds also provided a few caveats to be aware of the model Transformers is using.
If Peterson says the movie Volt is not the final production car, it's likely that he's just choosing his words very carefully. The Volt's extra-large wheels and supersized badges, enlarged to gain the attention of the final movie audience, could be the only visual details that separate the movie Volt from the production version.

And like the Camaros from the original Transformers movie that were only built to look like the 2010 Camaro, the movie car could also be wearing the Volt's final body shell, but is actually a Chevy Cobalt or Malibu underneath the skin.

GM says what you see in the Transformers 2 video only hints at the design of the production version of the Chevrolet Volt, but the differences are likely to be negligible.
Obviously the car images and videos have not been photoshopped. More then likely the Volt was given a custom paint job specifically for the movie to enhance its visuals and make it distinct from the other cars. Personally, that purple/blue paint job is pretty sweet and GM should consider making it available for the model when it comes out.

As for whether its a TF alt mode, I don't know. It's too early to know either way at this point since its only been seen on one set, the Queensbay Bridge/Shoreline Drive, so far. If its not a Transformer, it seems that Chevy missed a chance to really promote the car considering that the movie will be coming out just a few months before the car is likely to start hitting dealerships.

More Corvette Centennial Pics

Jalopnik has posted a gallery of images of the new Corvette Centennial concept that is in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The images are not from anything taken from a TF set but posting them to give you an idea of what the alt mode of this Transformer looks like in close up. As the stingray logo below indicates, this might be why the current name, which could change, of the Transformer is Stinger. The full gallery is here and below are just a few choice pictures I grabbed. Thanks to Michael for the link.

Queensway, Shoreline TF Explosions Summary

I have been a bit confused on the various explosion videos that we have seen. It appears that one occured on the Queensway Bridge from police cars chasing Optimus Prime (#1). Another occured on Shoreline Drive also involving police cars (#2). Then there is a tanker explosion (#3), also on Shoreline, at an intersection that occurs when a tanker "tries" to avoid colliding with the smoking remains of cars (no sure if related to previous two booms or not).

The main way to tell (i think) is the #1 is on the bridge (can tell because of the regular spacing of lights on that bridge). #2 occurs next to a sound barrier. #3, other then involving a tanker, occurs at an intersection.

Explosion 1 on Queensway Bridge
Video - See second video, on bridge, after Optimus Prime passes

Explosion 2 on Shoreline Drive
Video - Notice barrier behind the cars, close-up of explosion
Video - Again wall on far side of road
Video - See third video, again wall and objects flying through the air
Video - Similar to above, shot from higher up in building

Explosion 3 with tanker on Shoreline Drive
Video - Street view of the tanker going boom
Video - In first video, practice run.

Autobots Driving on Shoreline
Video - A practice drive on Shoreline Drive
Video - A drive further down Shoreline
Video - In second and third video, Autobots driving around

Eye In Sky View of TF Explosion

Thanks to Ryan who found the below video of an eye in the sky view of the explosion on Shoreline Drive. If pay close attention, you can see that debris went everywhere and a flipping car across the median nearly took out the camera car. If notice, its a little higher and to the right of the footage shot by FMD805 (the third video).

Practice Run, Autobots Driving Around

From Movie Chronicles, here are videos of a practice run for the tanker explosion and Autobots driving around and a picture of the tanker getting prepped.

The first video is a practice run for various cars in the shot without the tanker going boom. The second video occurs at an intersection, not really sure what is going on. Also shows the various Autobot cars driving by including a very brief glimpse of the Chevy Volt. The final video is more Autobots driving by including the Volt and the Corvette Centennial.
